Weed management in direct-seeded rice under a long-term conservation agriculture-based rice rice (Oriza sativa)-wheat (Triticum aestivum) system

چکیده

Weeds that occur in repeated flushes pose major challenges to direct-seeded rice (DSR). Zero till (ZT) DSRwith crop residue influences weed interference considerably and can be substitutive resource-intensive puddledtransplanted (PTR). Field experiments were conducted at ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute during2018–19 involving conservation agriculture (CA)-based DSRs control/herbicides treatments appraiseweed productivity under an eight-year old CA-based rice-wheat system (RWS). All encountered more weeds than PTR. A double ZT without [~ZTDSR-ZT wheat (ZTW); C1] had highest density dry weight of grassy weeds, but a triple [~ZTDSR-ZTW-ZT mungbean (ZTMB);C4] broad-leaved sedge weeds. However, with threecrops [~ZTDSR + residue-ZTW residue-ZTMB residue; C5)] could reduce weedinterference significantly led 9.3% 21.8% higher yield C1 C4, respectively. The applicationof pyrazosulfuron-ethyl 0.025 kg/ha pre-emergence followed by (fb) cyhalofop-butyl 0.100 20 days aftersowing (DAS), fb bispyribac-Na 25 DAS (W4) significant reduction grassy, andsedge densities 92.5, 96.6 67.7%, rice, mungbeanresidues (C5) combined application gavealmost similar PTR (C6). This may recommended for adoption Indo-Gangetic Plains (IGP) ofIndia agro-ecologies the tropics/sub-tropics.

Emergence of Red Rice (Oryza sativa) Ecotypes Under Dry-Seeded Rice (Oryza sativa) Culture1

The effect of seeding depth on emergence of red rice (Oryza sativa) ecotypes from Arkansas (AR), Louisiana (LA), and Mississippi (MS) was determined under dry-seeded rice production in clay and silt loam soils in Arkansas. By 21 d after planting (DAP), all red rice ecotypes had emerged from planting depths of 1.3, 2.5, 5.0, and 7.5 cm in both clay and silt loam soils. In silt loam soil, seedlin...

Response of Rice Genotypes to Weed Competition in Dry Direct-Seeded Rice in India

The differential weed-competitive abilities of eight rice genotypes and the traits that may confer such attributes were investigated under partial weedy and weed-free conditions in naturally occurring weed flora in dry direct-seeded rice during the rainy seasons of 2011 and 2012 at Ludhiana, Punjab, India. The results showed genotypic differences in competitiveness against weeds. In weed-free p...

Effects of Seeding Time and Weed Control Methods in Direct Seeded Rice (oryza Sativa L.)

Field experiments were conducted during the 2 year period from 2008 and 2009 to determine the effects of three seeding dates and seven weed control methods in DSR. The results suggested that seeding in the first week of July reduced weed density and biomass, increased kernel weight, leaf area index, and kernel yield compared to seeding rice in the first week of July. Amongst weed control method...

Weed seed-bank responses to long-term fertilization in a rice-wheat rotation system

We studied the heterogeneity of soil weed seed-bank in a rice-wheat rotation system after long-term application of different organic or non-organic fertilizers, and the effects of major nutrients on the characteristics of the weed seed-bank. The soil was sampled in the Taihu area after a 31-year long-term fertilization experiment. Weed seeds were identified and counted in the surface soil of 12...
